Board Members

President: Micheal Cash

Michael Cash is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with an expected graduation date of May 2017; focusing to specialize in network security and artificial intelligence.  Michael has participated in the FIU Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program, conducting a 10-week summer research in which he identified vulnerabilities in Bluetooth communication for Android wearable devices. He has also performed research in Michigan State University’s Summer Research Opportunities Program, researching whether phenotypic plasticity is a component for evolutionary complexity using digital organisms in the Avida software framework.  As president, he hopes to provide practical skills, professional development, and academic tutoring as well as exposure to graduate schools and companies for the members. He plans to pursue a PhD in Computer Science, work in the private sector, and later establish his own business.

Vice President: Robin Mayrand

Robin Mayrand is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering from FIU with an expected graduation date of May 2017.  His current academic concentrations include: Control Systems, Embedded Systems, and Computer Science. He has already achieved a certificate of Japanese Language and Culture. He is currently working at FIU’s Human Cyber Physical System’s lab at FIU and the FIU OneStop Office as an IT student assistant. As Vice President of HKN, Robin hopes to establish mentorship as the cornerstone of the society, and thereby improve the development of students in FIU’s Electrical/Computer Engineering departments.

Treasurer: Kevin Baza

Meilyn Planas is a student at Florida International University pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering with an expected graduation date of May 2016. Specializing in nano-technology, bio-engineering, and network engineering, her main interests include optical design, logic design, and integrated circuits.  She is the current Corresponding Secretary for Eta Kappa Nu and part of the reactivation e-board for the Kappa Delta chapter.

Karina Quintana is a senior Electrical Engineer Undergraduate FIU. She is in charge of giving back to our community through outreach programs like engineers on wheels and other events.

Project Manager: Carlos Flores

4th year Electrical Engineering student concentrating in Integrated Nano-Technology and Power Systems. Works as a Web Developer and is currently taking Power Systems I. Current goals are to graduate with a GPA>3.5 then move to California. Joined Eta Kappa Nu to help out as much as I can and to be able to make a difference.
